A NOTE FROM EMMA!

A woman stands smiling with walking poles in front of a blue metal sign shaped like a sail, labeled "SOUTH WEST COAST PATH," near a sandy beach with grass and cloudy sky.

Hi, it’s Emma,

I hiked all 650 miles of the southwest coast path in the summer of 2023 from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset and it was fantastic!

There are so many beautiful sections making it hard to choose just one weekend of hiking but the itinerary I’ve put together really offers the best of the best and will be a great way to close out the summer season and welcome in Autumn.

This is more than a weekend away — it’s a send-off to summer. Think golden light bouncing off Cornish cliffs, the crunch of trail underfoot, the laughter of new friends, and unforgettable vegan feasts to round out the day.

Whether you’re coming solo, with a mate, or as a couple, this relaxed, small-group trip is designed to help you unwind, move your body, and celebrate the season surrounded by nature and good vegan vibes.

Let’s hike!

Key Trip Information

Day 1: Arrive St Ives Cornwall

We’ll be meeting at the Tregenna Castle Hotel this afternoon and you’ll have time to explore the beautiful gardens, grounds and all that St Ives has to offer, including some fantastic art and crafts shops, wonderful cafes and restaurants and of course the beautiful beaches. Taste testing a bag of delicious Cornish vegan fudge is recommended! There will be a meet and greet this evening before heading out for a delicious vegan dinner to fuel up for a weekend of adventures.

A coastal town with sandy beaches, people on the shore, historic buildings, and a cloudy sky above turquoise water.

Day 2: St Ives To Zennor

Hiking: 8 miles / 12.8 km

Highlights: Fantastic coastal views

Get your vegan hiking boots ready, we’re off! A gentle walk out of St Ives to Clodgy Point soon becomes a roller coaster of hills as the Coast Path plunges down towering cliffs into beautiful coves and back up again as we hike toward Zennor.

The landscape today is beautifully wild and rugged and the area around the small village of Zennor is known as an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Today’s hike will finish in Zennor where we’ll have some time to look around before taking a transfer back to our hotel in St Ives for a well-deserved rest and another great group dinner.

Six people in hiking gear stand and kneel on a grassy cliff overlooking a rocky coastline and the ocean under a partly cloudy sky.

Day 3: Zennor To Pendeen

Hiking: 7.5 miles / 12 km

Highlights: Coves & lighthouses

After a hearty vegan breakfast and transfer back to Zennor we’ll start our hike with fantastic views from Zennor Head to Portheras Cove below, keep an eye out for dolphins!

Today we’ll journey through one of Cornwall’s most illustrious mining areas, where the miners worked in tunnels deep under the seabed to extract the ore. The landscape today is littered with stunning rock formations and a multitude of archaeological remains from all periods of history.

We’ll hike past the Pendeen Lighthouse which opened in 1900 to aid ships along what is said to be one of the most dangerous stretches of coast in Britain before finishing our day having a stroll around the village of Pendeen and later heading back to our lovely hotel in St. Ives!

Day 4: Depart St Ives

Time to head home but not after an optional sunrise swim! This might not be the end of your journey, maybe you’ll join a coast-to-coast hike in Costa Rica next or summit some volcanoes in Guatemala. Thanks you for supporting a small vegan business and I’ll see you again soon 🙂
